Recipe: Savory Lentil Jareesh Porridge
This recipe uses the rich flavor of red lentils combined with Jareesh, creating a powerhouse meal ideal for cold evenings or after a long day of work.
Ingredients (Serves 4)
- 1 cup Nefis Agro Ceriş (Jareesh)
- 1/2 cup Red Lentils (Mergümez)
- 6 cups Chicken or Vegetable Stock
- 1 large Onion, chopped
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- Spices: Cumin, Paprika, Mint, and Salt to taste.
Instructions
- Rinse and Soak: Rinse the Jareesh and lentils well. Soak them in warm water for 20 minutes (optional, reduces cooking time).
- Sauté: Sauté the onion and garlic in olive oil until softened.
- Simmer: Add the stock, Jareesh, and lentils to the pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat.
- Thicken: Simmer gently for 45-60 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the wheat and lentils are tender and the porridge has reached a thick, creamy consistency.
- Season and Serve: Stir in the spices. Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro or a swirl of butter.
